GAYLE AND MARTY GALBRAITH GENEALOGY

Notes for Henry Galbraith

The following text is from the document "The Pioneer Family GALBRAITH":

From what I have heard, Henry Sr. was about 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing about 150 pounds. I have seen a picture of him taken during his later years, showing him to be a sober faced man with a full head of hair wearing chin whiskers shaved side of face and with a mustache. Uncle Milt told me he was more like Oscar in face, body and movement than any of his other sons. It may be as in my case beard did not grow on the sides of the face, but on the chin and upper lip.

He raised a large family and developed a good farm home about 3 miles East of Thompsonville. After his death his son Jim Jr. owned and lived on his place for years selling out to a family of Osborns two brothers and a sister. The sister and her husband lives there last I knew.

Henry Galbraith was a man of character and a leading citizen of the community. He liked to experiment with the grafting and budding of fruit trees. Have heard it related he had several varieties of apples growing on a single tree. He once developed by design or accident a new variety of apple that for some time had a degree of popularity. It was called by his name Galbraith Pippin or some such don't remember just what.

His Wife was Delilah Hogan a sister of John H. Hogan, Olive (Hogan) Irby, Sophie (Hogan) Mcfarland and others.

His second wife (mother of Oscar) was Malissa (Pus) Perryman a sister of Aaron (A) Perryman.

Henry and both of his wives are buried at Pleasant Hill. I don't believe he belonged to any church
